A newly built Chelsea line up will start their Premier League 23/24 campaign with a match against Liverpool at home. Chelsea had a very disappointing end in the last season as they finished 12th with just 11 wins in the league. Under the new head coach, the Blues will be aiming to finish big this season with number of ins and outs of the player during the transfer window.

Chelsea's first season under Todd Boehly was forgotable. 22/23 season was Chelsea worst's in nearly 30 years despite spending more than £600m on new signings across two transfer windows. Chelsea finished at 12th position with just 11 wins out of 38 matches. Chelsea lost 16 and drew 11 matches during their campaign. 

Ex managers Graham Potter and Frank Lampard were miserable in their roles and couldn't bring out the best of the result during their tenure. 

After the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino, there has been a lot of changes in Chelsea's squad. They have sold more than 10 players from last season's squad and added few more new faces in the team. 

Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Axel Disasi, Robert Sanchez and Lesley Ugochukwu are among the notable additions, and more are expected to arrive at Stamford Bridge. 

Chelsea's pre-season was eventful as they finished their USA tour undefeated. Chelsea finished as the champions of the inaugural Premier League Summer Series after accumulating seven points from three games against Brighton & Hove Albion, Newcastle United and Fulham to top the six-team table. 

On the other hand, Liverpool's last seaon too wasn't that much promising. They finished outside top 4 and missed out the chance to play in the UEFA Champions League. They will have to shift their focus on Europa League. Livepool finished fifth in the table, four points behind fourth placed Newcastle United. 

Liverpool too have offload some of their players and added new faces. The notable addition in the squad is the World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton. Similarly, to bloster their midfield, the Reds have got Dominik Szoboszlai.

Team News

The season has just begin and Chelsea is already suffering some major injury blow as their new signing Christopher Nkunku is our for 3 months due to injury during their pre-seaosn game. Similarly, Wesley Fofana picked up another injury after missing out half of the last season due to injury. 

Benoit Badiashile, Noni Madueke (both hamstring) and Armando Broja are all fit but might have to wait to get going in the Premier League. Newly appointed Captain and Vice-captain duo will hold the full back position.
 
Robert Sanchez could get start ahead of Kepa who is in final talk to join Real Madrid on loan. 

For the visitors,  they will be without midfield duo Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic as they continue to recover from respective hip and adductor injuries.

Liverpool are all sure to go with their traditional full backs duo of TAA and Robertson with Van Dijk and Konate in the centre. 

Alexis Mac Allister is all set to debut in the league from Liverpool.
