The triangular ODI series of the ICC Cricket World Cup (CWC) League 2, which was scheduled to begin in Kathmandu next week, has been postponed.

The decision to delay the series was made considering the current situation in the Middle East. The tournament was set to feature Nepal along with Oman and the United Arab Emirates.

Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) spokesperson Chumbi Lama confirmed the postponement through a press release issued on Thursday.

The series was originally scheduled to take place at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur from March 10 to March 20, with both Oman and UAE expected to travel to Nepal for the matches.

According to the statement, the matches of the CWC League 2, which were set to start in Kathmandu on March 10, have been postponed until further notice due to the prevailing situation in the Middle East. The games involving Oman, UAE, and Nepal have been affected, and new dates will be announced after further consultation.

The postponement comes as flight routes in the Gulf region have been disrupted, creating difficulties for the Oman and UAE teams to travel to Nepal.

Meanwhile, Nepal’s 20-member preliminary squad for the series is currently undergoing a closed training camp.

In the eight-team League 2 standings, Nepal are placed seventh with 12 points from 20 matches. Oman are fourth with 24 points, while the UAE sit at the bottom of the table with 10 points.
