New Zealand All-Rounder Jimmy Neesham Raises Payment Concern After Playing in Nepal Premier League
New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham has expressed on social media that he had not received his payment for playing in the Nepal Premier League (NPL). Upon inquiry, our sports team learned from his franchise, Pokhara Avengers, that they have already discussed the matter with Neesham and that his remaining payment will be cleared by Tuesday.
Neesham had recently played in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final on Sunday night, where New Zealand was defeated by India. Following the match, an Instagram post by Pokhara Avengers praising Neesham’s performance drew attention when Neesham commented about unpaid dues, writing, “Cool, pay your players.” He had played the first four matches of NPL’s second season representing Pokhara Avengers.
When questioned about the issue, a representative of Pokhara Avengers confirmed that discussions had taken place with Neesham and that his remaining dues would be credited by Tuesday. “We only had less than 15% of his payment pending. However, due to administrative procedures, the dollar payment was slightly delayed. After a change in the secretary, we had to initiate the process again, which caused the delay. We have completed the process today and are confident that the funds will reach his account by tomorrow,” the franchise official explained.
This is not the first time players have faced payment delays in Nepal franchise cricket. Previously, players from the Nepal T20 League organized by CAN (Cricket Association of Nepal) had not received their full payments as of today. At that time, the Kathmandu Knights’ team went largely unnoticed during the event managed by Seven-Three Sports, and CAN had promised to pay the team’s players. Yet, many players are still awaiting full compensation.
