The last time Nepal and Sri Lanka were scheduled to meet in a T20I was at the 2024 T20 World Cup, where the match was washed out before even the toss could take place. A similar outcome could be on the cards again when the two sides meet on Tuesday, with heavy rain continuing to disrupt the Asian Games men's cricket competition.

Of the last four matches in the tournament, three have been washed out without a toss, while another was abandoned after just 15 overs. If rain once again prevents Nepal and Sri Lanka from completing their match, Sri Lanka will advance to the semi-finals as the higher-seeded team, joining India and Pakistan in the last four. The winner of the tie will face India in the semi-final.
